Museum Day

My cousin Corey came to visit Houston this week and I took him to see a few of the museums. The first one we went to see was the King Tut exhibit at the MFAH. Unfortunately pictures weren't allowed so you'll have to take my word for it when I say it's amazing! They have a bit of history and artifacts from Egypt then they take you on a tour of his tomb room by room. Another day we went to the Contemporary Art Museum and The Jeung center.

At the Contemporary Art Museum there was only this one exhibit, but that's all they needed. The paintings, if you could call them that, were amazing! The medium was melted crayon and underneath some parts there were smaller pictures. These first two pictures were my favorites.

I also took Corey to see the sculpture garden since he hadn't been there before. Hopefully you enjoy the different sculptures than in my previous post here.

After the sculpture garden we went the The Jeung center. The paintings here were really neat! They reminded me of when you looked under a microscope at different cells.

Thanks to Corey for taking the pictures!

Galveston Take Two

Since this was my family's first trip to Houston we decided to take them to Galveston. I know, I know we had just gone a few days prior but it was still a fun trip! We stopped at Kemah first to look at all the cute little houses. They reminded me of little cottages from San Francisco because of their bright colors. We walked along the Kemah boardwalk and stopped in a few of their shops. The boardwalk reminded me of Ocean City, Maryland with the carnival games and all the souvenir shops.

After Kemah we all piled back into the car and headed to Galveston. We had lunch at this amazing Mediterranean restaurant and after that only had time to walk into a few shops. This trip I noticed that there were old pictures of the buildings from the 1800s up so you could see how the buildings had not changed much since that time.
