My best friend Amanda was here for the weekend (which would explain the lack of posts, sorry!). She came once
before so this trip was really relaxed. We went out to lunch the day after she arrived at
T'afia. My uncle Matt suggested the restaurant since they use all local and fresh ingredients and the chef, Monica Pope, was on Top Chef Masters (he knows my weakness for Bravo TV). There was a set menu for Friday lunch for a prix fix of $22, pretty reasonable considering her celebrity chef status.
The meal did not disappoint. I started with a chickpea soup with harissa, which gave it a bit of a kick. Amanda got the lentil soup, which had quite a bit of bacon. There's no picture since this was my first stint at taking food pictures and I must say....I need a little bit of practice!
The next course I ordered tarro and roasted sweet potato salad, mustard greens and herbs, while Amanda got the 5 spice chicken, corn pasta, coconut milk, carrots, leeks, and red peppers. Hers was reminiscent of a Thai dish with the coconut milk and flavors.
(Note to self: pictures of Amanda's food taken from across the table don't make for good pictures)
For dessert Amanda ordered a lemon custard, which had a very strong lemon flavor so she was only able to eat part of it. I ordered carrot cake topped with chocolate, which was more of a spice cake in my opinion, but still delicious.
After lunch we were able to snap a few quick pictures of our outfits. I love Amanda's mint top! She's more of a neutral tone kind of girl, but this pop of color looks so good on her!
I love these pants but never seem to find a good place to wear them. A friend once described them as pajama pants, which they kind of are because they are so comfortable!
