Happy New Year

Sorry for the late post, but it's been a busy day!

I hope everyone has an amazing new year and gets to celebrate with friends and family. I know I got a little of both today.

Thinking of the close arrival of 2012 has me reflecting on this past year. So much has happened...I quit a job I was unhappy in, moved from California to Houston and welcomed my new baby cousin into the world. 2011 was an amazing year...2012 you have a lot to live up to but it can only get better :)

While everyone is going for the glitz and sequins for their new years party dress I was feeling lace. I love this cover (image courtesy of Vogue) of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen...it combines style icons of mine and my lace inspiration this year. What did you wear to celebrate the new year?

Touring Houston

This was day one of my parents trip to Houston. We took a tour around the city and showed them all the city has to offer. Honestly this is my favorite thing to do when people come out to visit for the first time. My Uncle Matt knows so much about the city and has so many fun facts to share as we drive around. I get to hear something new with every tour we do!

Our first pit stop was a park that is dedicated to my uncles that is both able-bodied and disabled children accessable. It was really a fun park...as you can see I had a little bit of fun there too! We also drove through downtown and saw the theater discrict. Finally, we drove around River Oaks, my favorite neighborhood. I love to look at the different houses and all the architechture. River Oaks has some amazing homes!

Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to take photos of my outfit, but you can get the gist from the photos. Enjoy!

New Years Plans

I saw this video while browsing online and thought it was amazing! I love Zooey Deschanel and of course Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a super cutie so this video was perfect. It made me think of New Years and what I wanted to do.

It's my brother's birthday on the 31st and usually we all celebrate together, but this year my parents fly back to California that day.  This will be my first year not celebrating that with him (although I planned a surprise day for him tomorrow!)

My first New Years spent in Texas...what to do...

What are your New Years plans?

Parents arrival

We've had family visiting non stop for the holidays and my parents flew in from California last night. This was their first trip out to Houston and it was really special to be able to celebrate another Christmas with them. My Uncle and I picked them up from the airport and we went home and opened more presents. They're here for a few more days so expect more posts of our adventures!

Sorry for making this really short, but my Uncle is showing embarrassing photos of my dad as a child. You know I can't miss that!

Holidays

This Christmas I was really blessed. Not only did I get to spend my first Christmas in Houston surrounded by new family but my parents also fly in tomorrow (This will be their first trip here). With all of the people we had over for Christmas it reminded me of my childhood spent rotating at my cousins' homes. Every year the entire family would gather on the 25th for dinner, and I'm talking the ENTIRE family! The 24th was always spent with my grandparents, in the German tradition of course. This year we were able to blend everyone's traditions, German, Greek, and American. We had my traditional crab soup for Christmas eve dinner and I was able to make the Greek cookies my mom and I always make.

This was the first Christmas in a few years I was able to spend with my family (gotta love working retail during the holidays!) and it truly was an amazing Christmas. I can't wait until my parents and my brother arrive tomorrow to do another Christmas all together!

I hope you all had an amazing Christmas. xoxo

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone! Baby E woke me up bright and early this morning, I think she was excited for Santa! Today we have even more family coming in to spend the holidays with us. I'll be spending the day cooking the Christmas dinner along with Matt and his mother.

This will be my first holiday spent in Texas and let me just say it has already been amazing. I spent all day yesterday baking Greek cookies and sugar cookies for Santa, we had an amazing dinner (cooked by me of course), and then we watched The Muppet Christmas Carol. This is my all time favorite Christmas movie that I watch every Christmas eve.

I can't wait to spend the day with the rest of the family and then my parents come in a few days, yay!.

Happy Holidays from my family to yours.

Team Baby!

Every Christmas Eve we get to open one present. This year I decided to open this beauty from my Grandma. I let out a squeal she could probably hear on the east coast when I opened it. There were so many outfits running through my head although I kind of like look going on in the photo with the dress I was wearing for Christmas Eve dinner.

Santa Baby

I took these shots a few days ago after I got this shirt. I saw it at Target and couldn't resist buying it (even if it wasn't my size) along with the red pants. I paired them with my Jeffrey Campbells to give the outfit more of an edge. I feel like a little kid with this shirt!

Happy Holidays everyone

Galveston

We took the family to Galveston today for a little holiday shopping. This was my first time there and I must say it was a cute little town. We bought a few holiday ornaments to add to the tree and I bought a few bracelets that I'll post pictures of soon.

The weather was a bit chillier than I anticipated, but I remembered to bring my scarf so that kept me somewhat warm. I guess I have to say goodbye to the warmer weather and hello to my winter wardrobe.

Missoni

Houston has been gloomy and a little chilly these past few days, but I managed to get these shots in when we had a bit of sunlight.

This is the Missoni dress from Target that everyone was lusting after. When the line launched in September everyone was in a mad dash to get everything from the stores, their website even crashed! I went online to order a few things and I guess I was one of the lucky ones that was able to get my order through. However, that's not exactly how I got this dress. My family and I took a trip to Amarillo, TX and took a pit stop in Target for some hotel room snacks. To my surprise there were actually a ton of Missoni items still left! I started grabbing a ton of items and this is just one of the many jems I took home that day. The salesgirl had no idea what I was talking about when I told her how excited I was to still see Missoni items still left.

These pictures were taken by my amazing Uncle (Thanks!)
